The Rocker’s Mark.
Music is a unique medium of art. It can probably be considered one of the most influential art mediums out there. Musicians are often held in some of the highest regard, with plenty of Grammys and record deals to go around. While we now live in an age where we praise the latest and greatest of pop stars, you can’t go wrong with any of the classics of the past. Rock and roll is a strongly regarded genre with many beloved artists such as Kiss, AC DC, and of course, the one and only Black Sabbath with its iconic lead singer, Ozzy Osbourne.
Ozzy Osbourne was a prince of darkness with a heart of gold. He was a man of the people, a celebrity who loved his fans. That love was only outmatched by his love for his family, as displayed on the reality show, The Osbournes. The day he passed, the world lost an unlikely beacon of hope. That said, he did not leave without making his mark. Though, we are not talking about his music. Plenty of people have focused on his music, but as you have grown to expect from us at Political Fashion, we will instead be focusing on the rockstar’s wardrobe. - Surprise Jacket!
The first visit on our Ozzy Osbourne fashion tour is this classy ensemble. At first glance, this outfit is a rather simple ensemble: a black pair of slacks, a blazer, and a black collared shirt with a gilded black cane, gold rings, a chain necklace, and, of course, his iconic circular sunglasses. However, with a simple wave of his hand, BAM! Ozzy revealed a big, colorful display embedded in the jacket’s lining. The combination of black and red guitars juxtaposed with a bright blue backdrop is certainly an example of the Osbourne ability to catch fans off guard with a burst of wow factor. That factor is the best friend of any and all celebrities, enrapturing the attention and love of the fandom.

- The Marching Band
When you were a young boy, did your father take you to the city to see a marching band? If not, then maybe you will appreciate this outfit regardless. What is this that stands before us? It’s Ozzy Osbourne wearing this marching band-esque uniform that is adorned with gold accents. This outfit will occupy your brain as you see the mix between light and dark, complementing how Ozzy’s dark marketing juxtaposes with his bright and kind personality. This outfit evokes imagery of not only classic parades and marching bands, but also other popular bands like Green Day. There’s a sort of camaraderie that’s shared among certain celebrities. Rock and roll has the ability to bring people together in ways you can’t even begin to imagine. It can lead to you meeting a lifelong friend, a future employer, or even your never before realized love.

- The Disco Man
This outfit sticks out from the rest of the Osbourne wardrobe. He mostly is seen wearing black ensembles, so seeing him in all white is surprising, let alone in the form of a suit jacket, bellbottoms, and a sparkly golden necklace. This ensemble is a big, flashy callback to the classic disco era, juxtaposed with that same rockstar eyeshadow. It’s funny. The way that the phrase “disco is dead” has been spread is almost dwarfed by the efforts of people who call back to disco and the era of its origin. Perhaps disco isn’t dead but instead is still with us as long as it’s remembered. All that’s missing is a mirrored disco ball. We don’t want it to end this way, so it simply does not need to end.

- Gray Checkered Suit
Here we dial things back a little bit with this light gray overcoat with a checkered design. This coat would have been drab on its own were it not for Ozzy’s signature rings and gilded cane, as we’ve already talked about. The neutrality of the jacket’s color may not seem all that flashy. The thing is, this is exactly the point. The various flashier outfits we have been discussing up until now can be overwhelming, especially when compared with flashier ensembles of other celebrities. As such, it can be important for celebrities to have more low-key, subdued outfits in order to maintain a sort of balance. The balance between extravagance and low-key designs means that fans are not overwhelmed by the colors and intricate designs. The more grounded outfits also provide folks with a more down-to-earth perception.

- The Iconic Look
How would we go over the iconic wardrobe of Ozzy Osbourne without going over the most common attire of the star? Mr. Osbourne was most often seen wearing his trademark golden jewelry, ranging from his cross necklaces to his rings and bracelets, down to his golden watch. The bright, flashy gold is juxtaposed by a black button-down shirt and a black jacket, lined with black sequins that you may not notice at first glance. The ensemble is as always finished off with his iconic circular sunglasses. To say his wardrobe mostly stems from this ensemble would not be too much of an assumption.

- Orange Jacket!
We have another ensemble on the more extravagant side. Mr. Osbourne loses the black monochrome look in exchange for a colorful orange overcoat over a colorful Hawaiian shirt. Even his pants have been replaced by blue slacks. However, within this jacket, we have yet another surprise in his jacket’s lining. We have saved the best outfit for last. While the appearance appeal of these outfits is subjective, this ensemble displays Ozzy Osbourne the best because within that lining is an image of Oz with his wife, Sharon Osbourne. He was a man who loved his family, a man who intentionally juxtaposes the darkness of his music and outfits with the genuine kindness he shows between his fans, friends, and family.

The Legacy Lives on
Ozzy Osbourne made a massive impact on the world through both his music and his family’s reality show which gave the world a closer look into the rock star’s life. As such many people have tried to emulate Ozzy by dressing up like him. They have been getting the bits and pieces that emulate the late Mr. Osbourne. Black slacks, black overcoats, golden rings, cross necklaces, and so many other articles can be bought to make yourself look like the Golden Prince of Darkness himself.
You can use the ensembles to mix up your wardrobe a little bit. Heck, as you noticed on our journey, you do not necessarily need to strictly stick to this specific ensemble to allude to the Black Sabbath rock star. You have all kinds of unique options for your ensembles as well as the places you buy said clothes. That said, be aware that it’s not just the clothes that make Ozzy who he is, it’s the other way around. As we have seen with several of these outfits, Mr. Osbourne liked to implement his personality into these outfits whether it’s in the form of his sparkling golden jewelry, to his personalized jacket inlining.
The stage is waiting.
What this Means
The clothes we wear always have an impact. They often forge the first impressions that drive how we think of a person until we start to get to know them more intimately. Even the celebrities we worship are no different from this. From fictional icons like Blanche Devereaux and Superman to real celebrities like Ricky Roman to Taylor Swift. Each one teaches us an important life skill. Blanche taught us confidence, Superman taught us kindness, Ricky Roman taught us bravery, and Taylor taught us to be outspoken. What does the fashion wardrobe of the late Black Sabbath singer teach us?
Ozzy Osbourne always used his rock and his wardrobe as an excuse to preach togetherness for a good reason, because he believed in it. Nobody makes connections with people the way Mr. Osbourne did by mistake. His openness about his familial relations set him apart from other big celebrities. This is not to say that telling everyone every single detail about your life will automatically be fulfilling; rather, it simply means that maintaining these connections can more often than not be the fulfilling aspect.
When you’re held back by evil thoughts and evil doings, cold, alone, you’ll hang in ruins. Maybe it’s not too late to learn how to love and forget to hate. We can’t stand to say goodbye, but he would want no more pain, no more tears.
